Stipends for Residents
The currently approved stipend is outlined below and is applicable to the approved year of training. Stipends are revised on January 1st of each year and may be adjusted in July as economic conditions dictate. The current schedule is:

Pay Periods and Paydays
All residents will be paid monthly for a total of twelve paychecks per year.
Paid Relocations
A "matched student" who moves to the Norfolk, Virginia area to begin residency will receive up to $750.00 to assist with relocation expenses
Meals
- Daily lunches are provided at Noon Conference
- Meal vouchers are provided when on call
Vacation and Leaves
- Residents are authorized 21 days of paid vacation per academic year. The amount of vacation that can be taken at one time will be determined by the program director. An additional 5-6 days are afforded during the Christmas and New Year holidays.
- Sick leave may be authorized with full pay and benefits for a period not to exceed four weeks. Maternity and paternity leave times are provided.
- The granting of educational leave will be at the discretion of the program director and is not deducted from vacation time.
Uniforms, Handhelds, and Pagers

Residents are provided with a Handheld computer at no charge, currently using (Axim 51v) Handhelds
Lab coats and scrubs provided

Professional Liability Insurance
Professional liability insurance covering medical activities clearly defined within the scope of the residency program is provided by the school at no cost to the resident.
Life, Disability and Health Insurance
Term life insurance equal to the annual stipend to the nearest high thousand is available the date the resident actually commences duties. The proceeds of the policy are payable to the resident's estate or beneficiary as the resident may name.
Long term disability insurance is equal to sixty percent of the gross salary when combined with social security and other benefits.
